Very very happy hiking doggies.

It's been so rainy and gross here. I've been loathe to walk the dawgs in the mist. Finally was nice out, and we got a great hiking day in. Lots of photos taken, and just blissful walking. Looking forward to doing more of that. Wish the rain hadn't come back. Time for it to go.

I've had enough of the rain. It's nearly JUNE for cripes sakes.

Help Save one of our Etsyveg Members!

One of our own, Etsy seller and EtsyVeg member KrugsEcoLogic, is in serious jeopardy of losing her established Etsy shop and hard-worked-for status due to unfounded, vicious verbal attacks and abuse by way of feedback and Storque comments. KrugsEcoLogic is a wonderful, caring, and conscientious seller with nothing but glowing reviews until this awful situation arose, and she deserves to be protected from such treatment. She has been at the mercy of a vindictive buyer who has been on a mission to ruin her name through maniacal and mean rantings, and Etsy admin. has refused to step in. They will not remove the awful feedback , and have not taken any action to stop the abuse of one of its own. Please take action NOW and sign this petition, which will be sent to Etsy to let them know that the Etsy community, both buyers and sellers, will not stand for the abuse and harassment they are condoning. Thank you!

New idea for shop..

My creation

A new idea for my shop. A monthly calendar photograph. I can add this calendar image to most of my photos, as an 8x10. Then it can be framed. It's a work in progess. I'm also working on the possibility of having these photos just as images for folks to buy over the web, as a simple download for using as computer or web backrounds.

Rory found a beer bottle cap & named it Fred.

He had a nice whole wheat bread, tomato, cucumber, and veganaise sandwich in that cute recyled party bag he has in his hand. He insisted on carrying it everywhere & wouldn't let that bottle cap go once he found it. Kids are all tuckered out very early tonight. HIKING IS A DOGSEND!

Stone wall, grass, buttercups.. {Spencer State Forest}

Pretty view.. a relaxing nook. Love to have a book to read and sit here for hours..

--Heather :)

I've just about had it with my job. I'm seriously thinking of putting my notice in.
My co-workers are dumb, the absolute ridiculous people, I have ever met. My two dogs who I trained myself, and have to remind on a daily basis who the alpha really is, are much smarter. It's so tiring saying the same thing over and over and over to these people. I'm constantly cleaning up someone else's mess. They leave things behind all the time, don't care to clean up after themselves. They are like a Tasmanian Devil on speed. Not that Taz needs any help. They laugh joyfully at my misery and just point and laugh. Getting them to help with their tasks, duties and so forth. I mine as well be talking to a wall. They are loud, unruly people. Making me have to yell to get a word in edgewise. Sometimes, they are quiet this when I know I'm in for a really big problem. One I'd rather just ignore for the moment and let them finish, so I can clean up the catastrophe. Only problem, if I wait too long.. the entire building might just get flooded with soap bubbles and we might all drown. How do people do this same thing day after day after day? I just don't know how they cope, and don't end up in a clinic, or seriously into a dealer for a lot of money for drugs.

I never finish any of my projects. I've got dishes, laundry, and all kinds of craft things going on. None of it is fully completed in one day. Takes me hours and hours to finish things, because I am constantly on the run fixing someone else's issues.

Currently my list of *TO DO* is as follows:

1. Pick up tomato and banana skins off the rug.
2. Put the styrofoam packing peanuts into the trash.
(So they can stop blowing all around the floor.)
3. Vacuum rug.
4. Wash rug.
5. Let rug dry overnight before walking on it again.
6. Laundry is piling up again.
7. Dishes need to be put away.
8. Dogs really need a nice long 3 mile hike.
9. I could use a haircut.
10. Kids need a haircut too---look like the Monkeys right about now.
11. Clean the mud from the backyard. It was made with milk.
So it's going to be a festering stew really soon.
12. Take a Sabbatical at a convent.
13. Have my tubes tied.
14. Have hubby get snipped too for the added measure.
15. I'm sure there is something else I need to do.

Oh and on top of all of those chores. The PAY really sucks.

Cute aren't they? I could never quit on them. :)

Thought of the day: From the lense of a camera..

"One of the joys of being able to wield a camera, is to capture beauty and take it away with you. No one gets hurt. No one's life is destroyed. It's a peaceful process. A way of showing others and sharing with them. Whether you do it together or alone. Enjoy the images. Photography sometimes is a lot of taking. I try to do just as much giving with mine."

Crafting polymer & metal bobby pins

Bobby pins

I finally had a moment to get these photographed & uploaded. My kitchen floor took a hit, in the process. The terror twins (my 4 year old & 5 year old) decided the strawberries would be a fun snack & the leftover pieces got smushed onto the Pergo floor. Nice thing about Pergo. It all cleaned up rather quickly. Lemon juice & vinegar is a Dogsend cleanser material.

I hope to list these pretty soon. Ya know, when the kids are occupied.

Purple flowers

Purple flowers, originally uploaded by Aktie9.

I love photography. Nothing else is more fun, for me. I love seeing perfect flowers and seeing them really close up in all their glory and with fabulous details. But, one of my most favorite things is to find a subject that isn't perfect. A real flower (s) shoot it and it's companions together. I love finding new or different ways of looking at things. I tend to do this with some of my writing, my fiction writing. I love trying this with photography as well.

Bobby pins

bobby pins, originally uploaded by Aktie9.

These are some handmade bobby pins. I made the two blue polymer shapes (circle, square) and glued them to the silvertone metal bobby pins. The black one with the light turquoise green dots, is a purchased supply that I glued onto the bobby pin. I love these for my hair. Just so much easier than barrettes, and fun to make. I enjoy making things, so much. Lots of fun.

Plea For Bea!!!

I know there are so many animals that need our help but we can get this sweet girl to Spirit Sanctuary so she can lead a better life with just a little help from our friends.

A plea to help Bea from a friend:

HI Friends,
I believe you have all heard me tell you the tell of Bea - the pit at a no-kill shelter whose been there for 8+ years. (I know this for a fact as I took pictures of her for Petfinder back in 2001/2002 at this shelter.) Stacie Samuels-Forman and myself have found Spirit Santuary where Bea will freedom and love at their cage-free shelter in upstate New York; she'll have friends, live indoors with the other pooches and play all she wants on the acres and acres of grass.

Spirit runs strictly on donations and for dogs like Bea there is a one-time donation request of $3240. This covers some of her life-long care expenses... Stacie and I are raising this money so Bea can get there for the summer and finally romp all over the grass like dogs are meant to - not rot in a cement kennel. Recently a great pittie rescuer went and evaluated her - he said she was in good spirits, no aggression and very excited to have some attention - imagine how she will feel when she gets oodles of attention and has playmates and a bed at Spirit?

I know this is just one and there are plenty of other dogs and other causes but if we don't start with one desperate dog, where do we start?

Thank you for your help - just $10 will make a world of difference. Please spread far and wide - as I've told Bea "We are coming for you...just hold on!" =)

Donate here there is a 30 day deadline (June 5) If the money isn't raised by then it will be returned to the donors:

Purple hummingbird pin & hillside pendant

This is my purple hummingbird pin & a wee tiny hillside pendant. Both are made from polymer clay. The bird is coated with glitter and clearcoat enamel paint. The hillside is natural polymer. Just a couple new ones. The bird is listed on etsy. The hillside isn't at this time. I think it's going to be part of my upcoming giveaway.

Quote of the Day for May 12th 2009

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by
the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did.
So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover."

New: Daily Quote of the Day!

"Colour is the key. The eye is the hammer.
The soul is the piano with its many chords.

Another new pair of Vegan shoes

Vegan heels

{Claps hands} Yay for me! I just love these. They are like a dark plum and a light plum. They kind of do resemble leather in some ways. If you get up close and personal, you can see some speckles. I'm of the mind, that if they aren't leather, and they look good, how can you go wrong? No one died for my fashion and that to me is the key.

OMG I found shoes OFFLINE that don't hurt my feet! {Mock jumping up and down.} Might have something to do with going up in a size. But, um.. SHHHH I didn't tell you that. It's ok it's my lucky number 9. So I'm fine with it. Really I am. I'm fine with it.. sniffle sniffle sobbbb..

New Vegan Shoes

New vegan shoes, originally uploaded by Aktie9.

There is nothing like seeing the words: All manmade materials on the inside of a pair of cute shoes. Found at Wally World. They have a red pair and a plaid pair I liked as well. I'm considering going back for. When you find cool vegan shoes.. you should snap them up if you can. I have another pair I'll post them another time. They are a strappy patent leather look alike. In this plum and lighter plum colour. I love these too. They also had black and silver. Again, I'm going back. Stocking up on shoes is a fun time. Plus, I can never find shoes that fit me offline. It is rare. is one of my fav shoes sources. BUT, they aren't Vegan. So I've had to stop using them. :(

Dear Dansko, Please make VEGAN Shoes! I really really love them and will do free ad's for you! I really love the professional style.

Perty perty please! --Heather 'aktie9' :)

Minnie of Barkington

Minnie of Barkington, originally uploaded by Aktie9.

This is Miss Minnie Pooper. Minnie of Barkington, if you prefer. Mini is her name. Barking is her game. Do I sound whiny and complainy? I love her, I really really really do.. she's just BARKY. Whenever she hears something (cat next town over, piddling in their cat box) she flakes out. Men.. seem to irritate her the most. We had some guys getting into their car today, they had a bad luck to be parked near ours. She freaked out, and barked so much.. she sounded rabid. But by DOG she is damn cute. I'm also very happy, to have her living with me. Duke (Labby mix) and I saved her in February of 07.
If we hadn't found her and rescued her.. WHO would have? I can tell you ALL the other cars passing by her that day.. just passed her by. Their loss. When I die.. I hope to go to a Dog heaven.. and be surrounded by them. I love dogs, more than anything else.
She's so cute.. so loveable.. and is really smitten with her owner. I will always love and take care of her. Her happiness is my goal. My kids 3 and 4 (according to chihuahua rescue places, are bad ages to have chihuahua's with.) Absolutely love and adore this pup. They learned very quickly, how to act with her around. Minnie is super smart.. she nips ME, if the kids pester her too much or scare her. All in all we are very lucky to have her. She gives me this look, sometimes.. just says. THANKS.. my life is good because of you. I wouldn't change a thing in my life.. except maybe to get more dogs, and live somewhere in the boonies, so I could have lots more dogs.

I'm hoping someday to have a couple of cats too, and maybe some rabbits. I miss rabbits. They are so much fun.
